If I had a dollar for every time I’ve double-checked that my passport is still in my possession while I’m travelling, I’d be a very wealthy woman. It’s paid off, I guess, as I have never had my passport go missing while travelling (although part of that is luck, for sure!) – although I have once lost it. (You’ll have to listen to the podcast to learn about that.) In Episode 196 of The Thoughtful Travel Podcast, three guests tell me their tales of passport woe – and of course, because this is how travel seems to work virtually all the time, there are happy endings to everything.

When Your Passport Goes Missing
What do you do when your passport goes missing while you’re travelling? Well, as proven by Episode 196 of The Thoughtful Travel Podcast, what happens is you end up with a good story to tell (and like most travel problems, it turns out to be solvable).
My first guest is Paula Morgan who explains the tale of missing passports during a train trip in Europe – and the unexpected glee of whose fault it was!
Next, I chat with Jen Williams who encountered some problems trying to leave Mongolia, in the aftermath of having her passport stolen during her travels.
Finally, I speak with Marina Villatora in Guatemala. She went to spend a month at Lake Atitlan, but the stay didn’t turn at all as she’d expected.
